Yuvvraaj Movie Review:

Yuvvraaj starts as the story of Deven (Salman Khan in his anglicized accent), a chorus singer.Love is literally in the air as he starts floating around rainbows (without any flying colours) while dreaming of marrying an eternally cello-playing Anushkha (Katrina Kaif). The age-old aamir-ladki garib-ladka formula is thrown into picture with the girl's father objecting to their marriage. There is a strong Munnbhai MBBS hangover to the plot with Boman Irani posing as the father and moreover playing a doctor in the laughter-therapy mode.

Gumnaam - The Mystery is the story of an aspiring actress Ria (Mahima Chaudhary) who models / acts in music videos but has her eyes set on making it big in films as a lead actress. During one of her shoots, she happens to meet Dev (Dino Morea) a stuntman by profession, who saves her life during an accident on the set. She's impressed with him, soon love blossoms between them and they are on a romantic high.

The director asks her to give a screen test but when she asks for a second take she is refused. His assistant Rishi Gandhi delivers the cassette to Remon (Suman Ranganathan) a rich female staring in a huge mansion in Shimla. Who is this woman and why the cassette has been delivered to her? What happens after the screen test? How Ria tackles the situation and what's she doing in Shimla? All this forms the crux of the story of the high voltage drama Gumnaam- The Mystery...............

Oh my God Story review:
After Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic , the tortuous God Tussi Great Ho and the hellish Hello , Oh, My God!! is yet another tale of divine intervention in the life of a protagonist who prays to God but doesn’t want His help at the cost of his morals.
Vinay Pathak plays Rajendra Dubey, a salesman with big dreams of becoming another Ambani someday. He has many money-making schemes that no one seems interested in. His wife ( Divya Dutta ) prays to the almighty for help. And lo and behold, God ( Saurabh Shukla ), dressed in all white, comes down himself to hand over bags of money to Dubey and also munch on some fast food and confectionary during His earthly sojourn.
With its honest, holier-than-thou protagonist, ‘Oh My God’ tries to drive home a good moral message that gets diluted in the morass of its plot-holes. The sequences in which God keeps reappearing before Dubey in different avatars get repetitive after some time. Though Pathak plays his part with conviction, you notice that the actor stands a serious risk of getting typecast in guy-next-door kind of roles. Sourabh Shukla provides some comic relief as the God that pampers his taste buds. Divya Dutta is brilliant as Dubey’s supportive wife…………

Bommalattam Movie Story Review: After watching Bommalattam, Bharathiraja's bilingual venture, one cannot help being overawed by the excellence of Nana Patekar – easily one of the best actors India has ever produced. Designed as a film within a film the movie explores the quintessential life of a talented film director viewed as an eccentric from time to time. Bharathiraja is a name known for bringing rural India to life with scripts that are highly metaphorical in nature. The director who had also rendered an exquisite film noir in 'Sigappu Rojakkal' decades ago is back with a film that treads along the lines of murder under vicious circumstances. The fallacies of a world that fails to recognize creative angst has been captured on celluloid rather effectively. Arjun plays a CBI officer (Vivek) thirsting after the truth while Rukmini Vijayakumar plays the heroine of the film that is shot by Rana (Nana Patekar). Why does the director have such an affinity for his heroine? How can a man who loses his temper at the drop of a hat be calm and even sweet to some people? Who is responsible for the murders? These are the questions that are answered as the film unfolds. Comic relief is provided by Vivek and Manivannan. Although funny at times their interludes derail the intensity of the story big time. Compared to the brilliance of Nana Patekar, every other actor appears ordinary except Rukmini Vijayakumar who has done justice to her role. Cinematography is brilliant and the background score is passable. None of the songs impress. Though nowhere in the vicinity of Sigappu Rojakkal's brilliance, Bommalattam does succeed in arresting audiences' attentions during a major twist in the story which in actuality is the very crux of the film.........

Vaaranam Aayiram Review:

The movie opens with an army officer Surya receiving the news of his dad’s death while on a mission. Flashback- Right from his birth, for Surya (Surya) his dad Krishnan (Surya), a middle-class central government employee is more of a friend and a role model than a disciplinarian father. He dotes on his dad more than his mom Malini (Simran) and sister Shriya, and they live a happy life. Surya is influenced by his dad's stories of how he romanced his mother and won her. As Malini nostalgically tells him- “He just swept me off my feet"!

Surya goes to an Engineering college in Tiruchi, after his father borrows money to pay his capitation fees, but ends up watching movies than attending classes. After his last semester exams, on the way back to Chennai he meets the beautiful Meghana (Sameera Reddy) on train and it is love at first sight. Being a guy who has never looked at a girl, he pulls out his guitar and sings En iniyia pon nilaave!

Meghana and Surya are like chalk and cheese; she has graduated from the prestigious REC, Tiruchi a studious type and a topper who is going to do her MS at Berkley University in California! But somehow Surya who says he has been hit by a "thunderbolt" tells her-" I will come into your life and sweep you off your feet". How his father sticks with him through thick and thin and helps him to attain his goal against all odds, forms rest of this bio pic.

Gautham simply wrings you dry with his overplay of emotions in the father-son bonding. The climax is heart wrenching and heartwarming as Surya's breakdown and tears roll down his cheek which looks real. The best part of the film is the first half, especially the wispy romance between Surya and Sameera Reddy, with the scene where Surya falls for her in the train is hilarious and romantic. And when Sameera says finally – "I'm in love", with Surya playing around with a toy helicopter at Fort Point, which offers the best view of the Golden Bridge in San Francisco, the romance tugs at your heart. Only Gautham, a romantic can make such scenes work.
